Social Media Strategies To Triple Your ROI

Social Media Strategies To Triple Your ROI

If you’ve been resisting social media, I think it’s about time you put away your objections and start Tweeting. Get a Facebook account. Get on LinkedIn, Pinterest, and awesome shit like that.

Because a recent study by the Internet Advertising Bureau has found that social media marketing gives marketers a 3:1 return on investment.

It also found:

  • 83% of consumers are more willing to try out a brand after being exposed to it on social media.
  • The probability of someone recommending a brand increases by 21% after they have engaged with the brand on social media.
  • People actually expect to see your brand in their stream once they start following you.
  • People react best to content about the products they love.

Social media can generate increased sales and a better ROI when used in an integrated manner to attract prospective customers.

Here are some social media tactics you can use to increase your ROI:

1. Engage

Duh, right? I feel like almost every post I write here, I have to mention this.

But that’s the best advice I can give you.

People want to interact and create relationships with brands online.

So, interact and engage with your fans.

Have product giveaways, social interaction and real replies. That’s what separates the companies that get it from the ones who are still in the dark.

And don’t talk at people, talk with them.

That’s what engagement means. Look for solutions to unlock your fans’ voices.

2. Keep It Real

If you try to fake it online, know that your fans will be able to smell the shadiness from a mile away.

Those same die-hard, loyal fans will be the first to notice any behavior or content that doesn’t reflect your brand or company culture.

When in doubt, ask your community for help when it comes to content.

Because they love the brand, fans can sometimes come up with better content than anyone else.

3. Trust is a two-way street

When people engage with you in social channels, they’re looking for a relationship.

That means they want conversation and interaction, not necessarily a sales agenda.

The problem here is that marketing, by default, has an agenda – to gain followers, create brand loyalty… and sell products.

So how do you get the word out about your brand without sacrificing the relationship you have with your followers?

Well, social media improves ROI because it builds human connections. People prefer to buy from people they know.

So get social.

Talk like there’s a real person behind the brand. Treat your followers like friends. Deepen the relationship and build loyalty.

4. Post quality content

Don’t publish material that isn’t interesting, and which doesn’t offer value to your followers.

Every network requires a specific approach and language – you wouldn’t write the same kind of message for a Tweet that you would for a Facebook status update.

It’s not just about the length of the message either – Imagine posting a status on Facebook like: “Hey guys, check out this video, and please retweet!”

That just won’t fly.

Also, focus on making followers feel part of the brand’s family.

5. Experiment

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, especially when it comes to social media marketing.

You need to fail a few times before you see what works and what doesn’t.

Test out style, tone, and new monetizing tools. Try out new strategies, even some I may not have mentioned here.

Over time, you’re going to see that 3:1 return on your investment.
