Affiliate Marketing through Facebook

facebook affiliate marketing

Facebook is one of the most underrated affiliate marketing tools. Yet I believe it is one of the most effective and easy to use. Which is why I want to share it with you right now.

Choosing a Product

The first thing I do is find an affiliate product with a reasonable commission.

By reasonable commission I mean you should be making at least $50 for your share when you make a sale. For beginners I recommend you start small to get a feel of things.

So here’s how I make it work.

Keyword Research

Once I have the affiliate link, I do a little keyword research on the product. With that knowledge I create a Facebook fan page and name it according to the high ranked keywords. This way it has a good chance of showing up on top for both a Facebook and Google search.

From there I take screenshots of the product (unless the vendor has already produced photos for affiliates then I just use those). I add the pictures to the cover and profile picture.

Install “Just Redirect”

After that I install the free “Just Redirect” Facebook App. This app is placed right below the cover picture and when users click it, they are automatically sent to the website of your choice. In this case, I add a redirect to the sales page of the vendor. You can customize your redirect button with another image of the product or text.

Remember to add your affiliate link in the button so when someone makes a purchase, you receive your commission. Sounds like a no-brainer but I made that silly costly mistake in the past!

Content is Key

Add some content to your Facebook fan page including the About section as well as updates related to the product.

The tricky part is getting likes. Obviously, I like it myself, and while there are others who have a habit of creating fake Facebook accounts to ‘like’ their affiliate page, I prefer to get friends and family to add real likes.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll find that your page will be at the top of the Facebook search. Keep in mind the title of your page plays a major role in this, so choose wisely. I suggest including more than one keyword in your title.

When it comes to getting a high Google ranking, it’s up to you to update the page regularly, obtain more likes, and create back links to it.

Monetize

Now comes the fun part – making money :)

You can keep your page updated and rely solely on searches (which I don’t recommend).

Or you can pay for a little advertising. A Facebook Ads campaign is an effective way to publicize your page. You can target your audience according to location, demographics, interests and so forth. Another way is to sign up for Google Adwords to drive traffic to your page.

Now if the conversion rate is good and the cost per click is low, you’ll make a profit. Simple as that!

This takes quite a bit of trial and error and depends on the strength of your ads as well as the products you promote. In my opinion, it’s the easiest and cheapest way to use affiliate marketing through Facebook.
